| 表面の説明 | Laureate head of Emperor Domitian facing left, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The imperial effigy is depicted with a wreath of laurel, consistent with the emperor's titulature as Augustus and Germanicus. The encircling Greek legend occupies the field around the portrait, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |

Domitian's fourteenth regnal year, which this coin marks in its exergue, fell just before his assassination in September 96 AD — a murder organized within his own household, involving his wife Domitia. The Alexandrian mint continued striking his types through the full year with no apparent disruption, making coins of L ΙΔ relatively common by late Domitianic standards. The Senate's subsequent damnatio memoriae had no practical effect on Egyptian provincial issues already in circulation.
