Descrição do reverso Standing draped figure of Livia, assimilated to Demeter, depicted facing, holding ears of grain and a poppy in her extended hands, attributes emblematic of the goddess of the harvest. A crescent moon appears in the right field, adding a further divine or celestial allusion. The surrounding legend identifies the issuing city and names Livia. The composition reflects the Hellenistic tradition of honoring imperial women through divine syncrisis, common in the cities of Asia Minor during the Augustan period.

Informações adicionais

Tralles, a prosperous city in the Maeander valley, was rebuilding aggressively in 2 BC after a catastrophic earthquake leveled much of it in 26 BC — Augustus had personally funded the reconstruction, and the city briefly renamed itself Caesareia in gratitude. This coin belongs to that charged moment of civic debt, struck the same year the Roman senate awarded Augustus the title Pater Patriae.

The magistrate designation ΕΙΒΙΑ remains only partially resolved in the literature on Trallian civic coinage.
