| 正面描述 | Laureate, draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with the emperor's characteristic beard and mature features rendered in the provincial style. The surrounding field carries a Greek imperial legend partially preserved, reading ΑΥΤ ΑΝΤωΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΕΥϹΕΒΗ[Ϲ?], identifying the emperor by his title and the epithet Pius (Eusebēs). The die work is typical of Argive provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period, with a broad flan and somewhat irregular strike. The surface shows a dark green patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

Argos maintained an active civic bronze coinage under the Antonines, a period when Greek provincial cities leveraged imperial goodwill to reassert local identity through coinage. Antoninus Pius was notably permissive toward Greek civic minting traditions, and several Achaean cities expanded output during his reign precisely because of that latitude.
Argos itself claimed mythological priority over most of its neighbors, and that civic pride translated directly into a sustained bronze series throughout the second century.
