Argos maintained an active civic bronze coinage under the Antonines, a period when Greek provincial cities leveraged imperial goodwill to reassert local identity through coinage. Antoninus Pius was notably permissive toward Greek civic minting traditions, and several Achaean cities expanded output during his reign precisely because of that latitude.
Argos itself claimed mythological priority over most of its neighbors, and that civic pride translated directly into a sustained bronze series throughout the second century.
