正面描述	Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of early imperial provincial coinage. The effigy displays close-cropped hair with short locks swept forward over the brow, consistent with Augustan portraiture conventions. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Augustus) runs in the field around the portrait. The die-cutting is typical of a provincial mint, with a somewhat broad, flat flan and uneven strike.

附加信息	Magnesia ad Maeandrum had a long habit of courting Roman favor — the city had sided with Rome against Mithridates in the early first century BC and was rewarded with formal recognition of its temple of Artemis Leukophryene. This civic bronze names Gaios as the issuing magistrate, a Greek rendering suggesting a local official who adopted Roman nomenclature, a not uncommon accommodation in the conventus cities of Asia during the Augustan reorganization of the province.
