| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Lydian mint at Tralles. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features of the emperor in his early co-regency period. A partial Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, reading ΑΥ Κ Μ Α ΑΝΤΩΝΙ, identifying the emperor by his titles and name. The flan is irregular and somewhat porous, consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Severan era. |
