The emperor's armor and paludamentum are visible beneath the laureate wreath crowning his head. The surrounding field carries a Greek imperial titulature legend. The die workmanship reflects the provincial style typical of Mysian civic coinage under the Severan and Gordian dynasties. |

The ethnic legend of the city encircles or borders the type, identifying the issuing community. The composition is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage struck by Lampsacus during the reign of Gordian III. |
