| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, as was conventional for imperial portrait types of this period. The emperor's armor and paludamentum are visible beneath the laureate wreath crowning his head. The surrounding field carries a Greek imperial titulature legend. The die workmanship reflects the provincial style typical of Mysian civic coinage under the Severan and Gordian dynasties. |

| Reverse description | A winged hippocamp strides powerfully to the right, its equine foreparts and spread wings rendered in bold provincial relief, the serpentine fish-tail curling beneath. This mythological sea-horse, emblematic of Lampsacus's maritime heritage on the Hellespont, occupies the central field. The ethnic legend of the city encircles or borders the type, identifying the issuing community. The composition is characteristic of the civic bronze coinage struck by Lampsacus during the reign of Gordian III. |
