| 背面描述 | Nude Eros, assimilated to Thanatos, standing left in a funerary attitude, his wings partially spread, resting with both hands upon an inverted torch set upon what appears to be a small altar or base. The figure's downward gaze and languid posture evoke the iconography of Death as Sleep, a motif well attested in the funerary art of Asia Minor. The ethnic legend ΔΟΡΥΛΑΕΩΝ is inscribed around the field, identifying the civic authority of Dorylaeum. |

Dorylaeum, a Phrygian city in the Synnada conventus, struck bronze coinage under Gordian III as part of the broader phenomenon of Roman provincial civic issues — coins produced by local authority under imperial sanction rather than from the imperial mints. The city appears infrequently enough in the provincial series that individual types can be difficult to attribute without access to specialized corpora, and the reference here traces to the systematic cataloging efforts that only seriously addressed Phrygian civic bronzes in the late twentieth century.
