Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, the head encircled by a radiate laurel wreath rendered in the provincial style. The effigy is surrounded by a Greek imperial titulature legend distributed around the field. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical provincial die workmanship with somewhat coarse engraving characteristic of the Carrhae mint.

Reverse description Central type depicting a large eight-rayed star set within a filleted crescent, the crescent resting upon a conical sacred stone (baetyl) mounted on a stepped or moulded base, a well-known religious symbol of the lunar deity Sin venerated at Carrhae. The legend ΚΑΡ appears in the field flanking the central device, and the composition is enclosed within a dotted border. The type alludes directly to the principal cult of the city.
