Year 16 of Trajan's reign in Egypt — 112/113 AD — falls squarely in the period when the emperor was marshaling resources and attention toward his Parthian campaign, which launched the following year. Alexandrian bronze of this regnal year circulated in a province that functioned as the personal estate of the emperor, its mint answerable directly to imperial administration rather than to the Roman Senate.
