The colonial Latin legend COL A A PATR (Colonia Augusta Aroe Patrae) encircles the device, distributed around the periphery of the coin. The lyre is an attribute of Apollo, the tutelary deity of the colony, and its prominent display reflects the religious and civic identity of Augustan Patras.

附加信息	Patras was refounded as a Roman colony by Augustus around 14 BC, resettled with veterans from the Praetorian cohorts and soldiers discharged after Actium — men who had fought the battle that made Augustus's reign possible, rewarded with land on the very coast where the war concluded. The colonial coinage that followed was among the earliest struck in Achaea under Roman auspices, making RPC I 1280 one of the foundational issues of the new provincial order in Greece.
