| 正面描述 | Incuse battle axe (parashu) countermark applied to the obverse field of a crudely struck, irregular copper flan. The countermark is deeply impressed and rectangular in outline, with the stylized axe motif centrally placed within the punch. The surrounding flan surface displays characteristic hammered texture with uneven edges and heavy patination consistent with prolonged circulation. |

Dewas was unusual even by the fractured standards of central Indian princely administration — the state was formally divided in 1726 between two branches of the Puar dynasty, Senior and Junior, each issuing their own coinage from what was effectively the same town. Attribution of Dewas copper to one branch or the other remains contested for many pieces, and the Zeno reference alone rarely settles the question.
