| Obverse description | Central field occupied by an ornate interlaced ligature of two Georgian Mtavruli letters Ⴃ and Ⴇ (DT, monogram of Davit), the inner letter Ⴇ nested within the outer Ⴃ, rendered in bold relief. Surrounding the monogram is a four-line Persian legend disposed in the field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded (dotted) circle border characteristic of medieval Georgian coinage of the Mongol-suzerain period. |
