Obverse description Veiled and draped bust of Demeter facing right, rendered in relief within a dotted border. The veil falls softly over the hair and shoulders, characteristic of Sicilian Hellenistic die work. A six-petalled star or rosette is placed in the left field behind the bust, serving as a religious or civic symbol associated with the goddess. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-hammered bronze coinage of this period.
