Pucking is a small farming commune southeast of Wels — the kind of place that issued Notgeld not out of monetary ambition but sheer necessity, as the postwar coin shortage left communities across Upper Austria unable to make change for basic transactions. The 99 Heller denomination is deliberately odd: avoiding the round 1 Krone figure kept the notes legally categorized as small-change substitutes rather than currency proper, a distinction that mattered under Austrian emergency money regulations.
Langhammer in Linz handled printing for numerous Upper Austrian municipal issues during this period. Designer L. Haase is credited on this note — unusual for a village Notgeld, where printer house artists typically went unnamed.
