Obverse description Host coin obverse of a Brazilian 6400 Reis (KM#199), featuring the conjoined laureate and draped busts of Queen Maria I and King Pedro III facing right, with the date 1786 and mint mark R (Rio de Janeiro) in the exergue. The circumferential legend reads MARIA·I·ET·PETRUS·III·D·G·PORT·ET·ALG·REG·S. Two rectangular countermarks applied during British occupation: an oval punch bearing a crowned 'G' impressed over the busts, and a rectangular punch inscribed '82 10' denoting the revalued denomination of 82 livres 10 sols.
