The portrait is centered within the field, with the mint mark 'B' (Bahia) appearing to the lower left of the bust and the date below, flanked by the denomination mark '3' (denoting 800 Réis). The circular legend reads IOANNES. V. D. G. PORT. ET. ALG. REX., identifying the monarch as João V, by the Grace of God, King of Portugal and the Algarves.
