Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of King João V with flowing curled wig, rendered in high relief in the Baroque style. The portrait is centered within the field, with the mint mark 'B' (Bahia) appearing to the lower left of the bust and the date below, flanked by the denomination mark '3' (denoting 800 Réis). The circular legend reads IOANNES. V. D. G. PORT. ET. ALG. REX., identifying the monarch as João V, by the Grace of God, King of Portugal and the Algarves. The coin's border is decorated with a fine beaded or milled edge. The overall engraving reflects the refined Baroque craftsmanship characteristic of the Bahia Mint during the reign of João V.
