| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is printed in blue, green, and black on cream paper, with a wide ornamental border composed of stylised floral and geometric motifs in the Secessionist manner. A central rectangular vignette presents a letterpress townscape of Mitterndorf, with a prominent church spire rising above village rooftops against a backdrop of alpine hills. The denomination '80 HELLER' appears in large blue numerals in the upper corners, with the title 'GUTSCHEIN ÜBER' in a teal guilloche panel at the top; the issuer name 'MITTERNDORF IM STEIR. SALZKAMMERGUT' is set in bold capitals below the vignette, and a green panel at the foot carries the validity inscription. |

| Opmerkingen |
One of hundreds of Austrian Notgeld issues produced in the early 1920s, this 80 Heller note from Mitterndorf belongs to a wave of locally-printed emergency money that filled the void left by the chronic small-denomination coin shortage following the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. Spa towns and resorts issued their own Notgeld with particular enthusiasm — the notes doubled as tourist souvenirs, and many were printed in limited series specifically to be collected rather than spent.
The JPR0621IIa reference places this within the Jaksch-catalogued Austrian local issues, a classification system that remains the specialist standard for this material.
