Queen Sofia appears at left, diademed with an ornate tiara and draped, facing right; King Juan Carlos I appears at right in military uniform, facing left. The date 1992 is inscribed at the base of the field, flanked by decorative rosette ornaments. | Reverse description | Central field depicts a historical scene of hammer coin minting, showing two medieval mint workers seated at a low workbench: one craftsman strikes a punch with a mallet held aloft, while a second worker tends to coin blanks on the surface before him.
