| Description du revers | The reverse reproduces the design of the reverse of the original Alfonso XIII 100 Pesetas coin of 1897, enclosed within a raised circular border. At center, the crowned Spanish coat of arms is displayed between the twin Pillars of Hercules, each surmounted by a crown, reflecting the heraldic tradition of classical Spanish coinage. The surrounding legend references the Third Centennial of the House of Bourbon and identifies the coin as a constitutional regal issue. Additional inscriptions in the field indicate the face value of both the historic 100 Pesetas and the commemorative denomination of 80,000 Pesetas, along with the assayer's initials 'S.G.' and the standard mark 'V'. |

This piece belongs to a commemorative series issued by the Spanish mint revisiting historical coin types in fine gold — the 100 pesetas of Alfonso XIII being one of the more politically loaded choices, given that the peseta itself was abolished in favour of the euro just three years after this coin's release. Alfonso XIII's reign ended with his voluntary exile in 1931 following municipal elections that swung heavily republican, making his coinage a deliberate reach back across the Franco era and the entire democratic transition.
