| Reverse description | Central field displays the crowned Danish royal shield bearing three passant lions with hearts, the characteristic arms of Denmark, surmounted by an open crown with fleurs-de-lis. The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of early sixteenth-century Scandinavian coinage. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin, MONETA ° NOVA ° MALMOENSIS 8, reads continuously around the field separated by degree-mark stops, identifying this as a new coin of the city of Malmö and indicating the denomination 8. A beaded inner circle frames the central device from the legend. |
