| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Christian VIII of Denmark, rendered in a neoclassical style with finely detailed wavy hair. The truncation of the bust is plain. A circular legend surrounds the effigy reading CHRISTIANVS VIII D:G:DANIÆ V:G:REX, with the engraver's initials F.K. and the mint mark symbol for Altona flanking the date 1843 at the base of the bust. The initials F.F. appear to the right of the date. |
