Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Christian VIII of Denmark, rendered in a neoclassical style with finely detailed wavy hair. The truncation of the bust is plain. A circular legend surrounds the effigy reading CHRISTIANVS VIII D:G:DANIÆ V:G:REX, with the engraver's initials F.K. and the mint mark symbol for Altona flanking the date 1843 at the base of the bust. The initials F.F. appear to the right of the date.

Reverse description Central device featuring the elaborately detailed Royal Danish coat of arms, comprising a quartered shield with lions, hearts, a ram, a bear, and other heraldic charges, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by draped mantling. The denomination is inscribed in two lines around the periphery, with '8 RIGSBANKSKILLING' arcing across the top and '2 1/2 SCHILL: COUR:' along the bottom, separated by small star ornaments.
