| Reverse description | Reverse of the cob host coin displays two applied countermarks characteristic of the 1839 Guatemalan Type II validation series. An upper circular countermark depicts a sunburst or radiate device, while a lower, larger oval countermark contains an equestrian figure, believed to represent a mounted horseman, set within a raised oval frame. The host coin's original reverse design, consistent with Spanish colonial macuquina types, is largely obscured by the irregular planchet surface and the prominent applied countermarks. |
