Obverse description The obverse features a crowned eagle displayed at center, its wings spread and head facing right, perched atop a royal crown rendered in relief. The eagle serves as the principal device, symbolizing insurgent authority issued in the name of the captive Spanish king. The date appears in the lower field, with the year 1812 visible on this example. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading VICE FERD. VII DEI GRATIA ET, invoking Fernando VII by the grace of God. The coin's fields show the characteristic rough, hand-engraved quality typical of insurgent emergency coinage struck under difficult wartime conditions.
