| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents the crowned Royal Arms of Spain in the quartered shield design standard for the Lima Mint's bust coinage, featuring castles (Castile) and lions (León) in the principal quarters, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in the central escutcheon and a smaller tower in base. Flanking the shield on either side are the Pillars of Hercules, each entwined with a banner bearing the PLUS VLTRA motto, symbolising Spanish dominion beyond the Strait of Gibraltar. The circular legend HISPAN • ET • IND • REX reads around the upper field, while the mint mark LIMAE, denomination 8R, and assayers' initials J•P appear to the left of the shield. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim. |
