| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse displays the laureate and draped bust of Carlos IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical portrait style characteristic of the Lima Mint's milled coinage. The surrounding legend reads CAROLUS • IIII • DEI • GRATIA, with the date 1808 positioned in the lower exergue. Prominently applied over the king's neck and chest area is the Philippine Ferdinand VII countermark, consisting of a crowned F•7° cipher struck in an oval cartouche, officially validating the host coin for circulation in the Philippines during 1832–1834. The coin's milled border is visible along the rim, and the field shows the natural wear and adjustment marks consistent with circulated colonial silver. |
