| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a standing figure of Liberty facing slightly left, draped in classical robes and wearing a Phrygian cap, holding a tall staff surmounted by a liberty cap in her right hand and displaying a shield or crowned oval device on her left arm. The word LIBER / TAD appears vertically in the field to her right, with the assayer initials B·D below. A circular pearl border frames the design, and the peripheral legend reads FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION in Latin script. This is the obverse of the host Peruvian Republic 8 Reales struck at the Cusco Mint, upon which the Philippine countermark of Ferdinand VII was subsequently applied. |
