Reverse description Central design features a bold Jerusalem cross with fleur-de-lis terminals at each of its four arms, dividing the field into four quarters. The upper-left and lower-right quarters contain the castle of Castile, while the upper-right and lower-left quarters bear the rampant lion of León. The cross and quartered emblems are enclosed within a tressure or beaded border, partially visible on the irregular cob flan. The surrounding legend HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM REX encircles the design, though it is typically only partially struck on cob coinage of this type.
