The Segovia aqueduct mintmark (S beneath the aqueduct symbol) appears to the lower left of the shield, while the denomination mark VIII is positioned to the right. A circular legend in Latin runs around the periphery, bordered by a beaded inner ring. The overall design is bold and deeply struck, consistent with the mechanical minting methods employed at the Segovia mint. |
