| Mô tả mặt trước | Central field bears a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in three lines within a plain inner circle, displaying the denomination and AH date 1270. The inscription is framed by a wreath of olive or laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, encircling the entire design. The lettering is rendered in a traditional Arabic calligraphic style typical of mid-19th century Arabian Peninsula coinage. The wreath terminates at the top with two small foliate sprigs flanking the inner circle. The overall composition follows conventions common to Ottoman-influenced coinage of the region. |

| Thông tin bổ sung |
The Kathiri Sultanate of Hadhramaut operated in what is now eastern Yemen, maintaining a degree of autonomy under the broader Ottoman and later British spheres of influence. The khumsiyyah — literally "one fifth" — was a fractional denomination tied to the Maria Theresa thaler-based trade currency that dominated the Arabian Peninsula and Horn of Africa through the nineteenth century. Sultan Ghālib ibn Muhsin al-Kathiri ruled during a period of intense inter-sultanate rivalry with the Qu'aiti, a conflict that would eventually erode Kathiri territorial control across Hadhramaut by the century's end.
