Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, wearing a wig with queue tied by a bow, set within the central field. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque portrait style characteristic of Lima Mint coinage of this period. The circumferential legend reads CAROLUS III D. G. HISP. ET IND. REX., distributed around the periphery between an inner milled border and an outer reeded edge. The mint date 1770 appears in the lower exergue, flanked by small pellet stops.
