Two rampant lions serve as supporters flanking the shield. The mint mark 'S' and assayer mark 'M' appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination mark 'VIII' to the right. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, separated by decorative rosette stops, reading CAROLVS · II · DEI · GRAC S M VIII, the whole encircled by a finely milled border. |
