| Obverse description | A rampant lion facing right dominates the central field, brandishing a sword aloft in its raised right paw while supporting with its left paw an oval crowned shield bearing the arms of Zürich (diagonal bar). A small oval cartouche inscribed '1/2' appears in the exergue below the lion. The circular Latin legend MONETA REIPUBLICÆ TIGURINAE runs along the periphery, separated from the field by a beaded inner border, with a milled outer rim. |

| Reverse description | A finely detailed panoramic cityscape of Zürich fills the central field, rendered in high relief and showing the medieval city with its prominent church spires — including the Grossmünster and Fraumünster — clustered rooftops, the Limmat River crossed by a bridge in the foreground, and small boats on the water. The date 1739 appears in a cartouche at the base of the design. The Latin legend TIGURUM curves along the upper periphery, within a beaded inner border and milled outer rim. |
