The effigy is rendered in bold high relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century Italian medallic art. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROLVS I D G DVX MAN ET M F ETC, separated by pellets, running along the beaded inner border. The date 1628 appears in the lower exergue area beneath the bust truncation. |
