Beschrijving voorzijde Fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting the effigy of the Queen facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend around the upper field reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 8 DOLLARS, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated below the portrait. The design is executed in a refined realistic style characteristic of Rank-Broadley's coinage portraits.

Beschrijving keerzijde A gold-selectively plated rooster stands in proud upright posture at the centre of the field, rendered in fine detail with elaborately textured plumage, tail feathers arching dramatically upward. Behind the rooster, stylised clouds in low relief provide a scenic backdrop, while a spray of flowers appears at the lower right. Coloured decorative cloud motifs in red and gold occupy the four cardinal border positions. To the right of the rooster, the Chinese character 雞 (Rooster) is inscribed in traditional script. The date 2005 appears vertically along the left field, and the inscription 5 OZ 999 SILVER is incused along the lower exergue.
Schrift keerzijde Chinese (traditional, regular script), Latin
