Over this host design, the Portuguese Type 3 countermark of King Afonso VI has been applied, displaying the crowned Portuguese arms with the value '75' (réis) prominently struck below, validating the coin for circulation in Brazil at a revalued denomination. The countermark is bold and well-centered, with a beaded border surrounding the crowned shield device.
