| Obverse description | Yellow and red Notgeld note with a decorative octagonal frame at centre enclosing a large red vignette of the oldest city seal (Ältestes Stadt-Siegel) of Freienwalde in Pommern, bearing a Gothic letter and floral ornaments with the circular Latin legend of the seal. The denomination '75' in red and the inscription 'PFENNIG' appear in a ruled box at lower left, while the issuer name 'Freienwalde' is set in Gothic script at upper right. Freienwalde in Pommern was a small Pomeranian spa town, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1920, its Magistrat issued Notgeld to address the chronic small-change shortage that persisted well after the Armistice. The Görlitzer Nachrichten und Anzeiger — a regional newspaper press — was a common choice for provincial towns unable to access the major security printers, and the quality of output varied considerably across their Notgeld commissions.
The designer credit to Robert Koch is worth noting: whether this refers to the local commercial artist of that name active in Silesia during this period, or another hand entirely, has not been conclusively established in the Notgeld literature.
