Schneidemühl — now Piła in northwestern Poland — was a Prussian railway junction town whose municipal savings bank issued notgeld during the acute small-change shortages of 1918–1921. Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were among the more prolific regional notgeld printers of the period, supplying dozens of Posen and Silesian municipalities with emergency issues when central coinage had effectively vanished from circulation.
The Sparkasse designation matters: this was not a municipal treasury note but an instrument of the savings institution itself, a distinction that occasionally affected redemption obligations when inflation made the whole series worthless by late 1923.
