Obverse description The obverse is printed in blue, grey-green, and yellow tones, dominated by a large multi-pointed starburst vignette at centre, within which a yellow disc carries a spread-winged eagle underprint overlaid by the bold denomination numeral '75' in black Gothic script. The heading reads 'Notgeld der Universitätsstadt Jena' in decorative Fraktur lettering across the top. At lower left, a validity clause is set in small black type; at lower right appear two manuscript facsimile signatures above the titles 'Oberbürgermeister' and 'Vorsitzender', with the date 'Jena, 1. Mai – 1921' centred at the foot, and the printer's imprint 'Ant. Kämpfe-Jena' below the border.

Reverse description The reverse is executed in deep blue-black, yellow, and green, presenting a richly detailed pictorial scene set against a dark background. At centre-right, two facing portrait busts in left profile — identified by a ribbon banner at the foot as Schiller and Goethe — are rendered in a bold woodcut-like style. Behind them, to the left, stands a multi-storey classical mansion set within a landscaped garden with trees and a fountain, evoking the poets' sojourn in Jena. The denomination '75' appears in large white numerals at lower left, accompanied by a small decorative mark, with a fine border frame enclosing the entire composition.
