Issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indonesian independence, this note was never intended as a circulating denomination — 75,000 rupiah sits outside the standard series entirely. Printed domestically on polymer substrate, it was one of the first Indonesian commemorative notes produced in-country rather than sourced from an overseas security printer, reflecting a long-standing policy push by Bank Indonesia to develop local banknote production capability.
Distribution was limited and largely gift-oriented, with sets sold through bank branches. Secondary market premiums appeared almost immediately.
