| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed high-relief depiction of an adult African elephant (Loxodonta africana) facing front-left in a three-quarter stance, standing on a rocky and grassy ground plane. The animal is rendered with naturalistic musculature, prominent tusks, and large ears partially spread, conveying a sense of power and presence. The curved legend PROTECTION OF THE AFRICAN ELEPHANT arcs along the upper periphery of the field. The reverse field is mirror-polished in proof quality, providing strong contrast to the frosted device. A beaded border frames the entire design. |

Equatorial Guinea's relationship with the CFA franc is itself an anomaly — the country is the only former Spanish colony using a currency system built for Francophone Africa, having joined the Central African monetary union in 1985 after abandoning its own troubled ekwele. The 7000-franc denomination exists purely as a collector artifact; no circulating coin of that value was ever practical in a country where the average annual income at the time barely cleared subsistence levels.
