| Description de l’avers | A highly stylized imperial dragon occupies the entire field, rendered in bold relief in the traditional Vietnamese court style. The sinuous creature is depicted in profile with its head turned to face left, displaying prominent scales along its serpentine body, clawed feet, and flowing whiskers and mane. Flame-like flourishes and auspicious cloud motifs surround the dragon, which grasps a flaming pearl beneath its body. The design fills the coin face to the very edge, which is defined by a toothed or reeded border running the full circumference. |

| Description du revers | Four large Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around a central rayed sun motif, reading 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo), meaning 'Circulating Treasure of Thiệu Trị.' The characters are positioned at the cardinal points — 紹 (top), 治 (bottom), 通 (right), and 寶 (left) — each rendered in bold, well-formed strokes. The central device consists of a stylized sunburst with radiating lines emanating from a small central pellet. The flat field between the characters and the periphery is plain, bounded by the same fine toothed border as the obverse. |
