| Descrizione del dritto | Draped bust of King João V facing right, rendered in high relief with elaborate period wig composed of flowing curls, occupying the majority of the obverse field. The circumferential Latin legend reads IOANNES. V. D. G. PORT. ET. ALG. REX., interrupted at the lower portion of the field by the Bahia mintmark 'B' and the date 1732 positioned beneath the truncation. The portrait is executed in the Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Portuguese colonial coinage, with fine detail in the drapery at the bust truncation. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed or reeded border. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The Portuguese royal coat of arms of João V, rendered in the 3rd type shield style, occupies the central field, displaying the traditional quartered escutcheon with the quinas (five inescutcheons bearing bezants) and the bordure of castles. The shield is set within an elaborate Baroque cartouche of foliate and acanthus scrollwork, flanked on each side by decorative shell and floral ornaments. The entire composition is surmounted by a detailed royal crown. The reverse field is otherwise plain, with no circumferential legend, and the design is contained within a reeded border consistent with the obverse. |
