| Reverse description | The Saxon horse, the heraldic symbol of the House of Welf, leaps vigorously to the left above a detailed panoramic view of the Harz mining district (Ausbeute scene). The middle ground depicts surface mining installations including headframes, pithead buildings, and sluices, with miners actively working at their tasks on either side. The lower register reveals a cross-sectional underground view of mine shafts and galleries, with miners shown at work within the excavations. Billowing clouds and a laurel branch appear in the upper field, and a chain-link border frames the entire composition. The scene is rendered with exceptional engraving detail in the characteristic Baroque manner of Brunswick Löser coinage. |
