Two crossed battle-axes, their hafts bound with cord and rendered in finely detailed relief, dominate the central field as the primary device — a design by George Kruger Gray symbolising the territory's heritage. The date 1937 is divided across the upper field, with '19' to the left and '37' to the right of the crossing point, where the engraver's initials 'KG' appear. The large numeral '6' is prominently placed in the lower centre of the field, with the word PENCE below it along the bottom arc. The legend SOUTHERN RHODESIA runs around the periphery, flanking the axes on left and right, enclosed within a toothed border. |
