| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned and draped bust of King George V occupies the central field, rendered in high relief after the effigy designed by Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennal. The king is depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state, with fine detail in the beard and facial features characteristic of the Mackennal portrait used throughout the British Empire. The circular Latin legend reads GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: distributed around the full periphery of the coin, interrupted by the bust. A fine beaded border runs along the outer rim. |
