Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, modelled by Mary Gillick, with a laurel wreath in her hair and a ribbon tied at the nape of the neck. The effigy is rendered in a refined, classical style characteristic of Gillick's early Elizabethan coinage portraits. The circular legend reads QUEEN·ELIZABETH·THE·SECOND, with the engraver's initials M·G· incorporated discreetly at the base of the bust. A raised beaded border encircles the entire design.
